As Canadians, we go to great lengths for hockey. Whether you’re on the ice, cheering from the stands or driving to practice and games, we will be there every step of the way.
Because hockey isn’t just a game for us. It’s what brings us together. That’s why the Esso™ brand is committed to fueling your hockey story – today, tomorrow and beyond.
For every player. At every level.

The Esso brand sponsored the first national radio broadcast of an NHL game in 1936. Then, in 1940, we sponsored transmissions of hockey games for Canadians serving overseas in WWII.
Three stars were first awarded in the 1936-37 NHL season as a means for Imperial (then Hockey Night in Canada's new principal sponsor) to advertise its Three Star brand of gasoline.
By 1950, three million Canadians listened to Esso hockey broadcasts each week – and in 1952, we expanded our broadcast sponsorship to include television.
We were a founding sponsor of the Hockey Hall of Fame, which opened in 1993, and also have sponsored the Legends of Hockey Tour.
